ACT TESTING DATES:

(PLEASE SEE MRS. NESSELROAD IN GUIDANCE FOR  ANY QUESTIONS)

   To register for the ACT - www.actstudent.org You will need to make up a username and password (please be sure to write this down and keep where you can get to it later).  Fill out the questionnaire.  Please be sure to put the school code and location. Also when it asks for the college you want the information sent to..please be sure to list the ones that may be of interested but not determined.  If you do not, they will charge you to go back in and submit that school.  It is around $12-$15 to add a school.  If you feel you qualify for a waiver, please see Mrs. Nesselroad or Robin in guidance.  We can help you upload a picture also.  Any questions please do not hesitate to email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Please note:  There is an app that you can put on your phone called ACT UP.  This app is free.  This app will give you some practice questions and then evaluate how you did.  Another tool to use before taking the actual test. There is also a booklet located on the counter in guidance that will help you. Please feel free to stop by and pick one up.  ACTstudent.org is also another good resource.

February 23, 2018 - we will hand the checklist and booklet out to the students so that they may check which scholarships they feel they are eligible for.  


February 26, 2018 - students can start turning in their checklist to guidance for me to pull their scholarships or print off the website.


March 23, 2018 - The applications are due back from the students to guidance


March 29, 2018 - Guidance to send the applications out to the committees for selecting.


April 27, 2018 - Due back to guidance from the scholarship committees.

College visit forms are available in the guidance department on Robin's desk.  Before going on your college visit you will need to have this paper signed by your teachers (this lets them know you will not be in class and you can get any of your work, turn the paper in to Dawn or Robin.  They will in turn let Alison be aware for attendance.  When you are at the college please be sure to get something that states you were there and return to Dawn, Robin or Alison.  It will then be marked as a field trip.

​SCHOLARSHIPS

​MENDED HEART Y-BRIDGE Chapter #51 scholarship -  applicants must enroll or be enrolled in a program of health care related studies in an accredited school within the state of OHIO.  Sdlection will also be based on the applicant's academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, community volunteer service and financial need. Please stop by the guidance department for an application.  If you have any questions, please let Dawn or Robin know.

 

 ​The William D. Squires Educational Foundation Scholarship :  To print an application please go to:  http://wmdsquiresfoundation.org/seniors/.  Click on the Print Application icon located half way down the page. Scholarship must be postmarked by April 5, 2018.  Applicants must be seniors, residing in Ohio, graduating from an Ohio high school in 2018. Based on financial need.  The EFC on FAFSA must be less than $7,000.  Finalists must have at least a $4,000 "need" to receive this scholarship.  Must know their career goal and be highly motivated to reach their goal. Must be planning to attend an accredited four year post-secondary educational institution on a full time basis.  A minimum 3.2 cum GPA is required. Any questions, please let Dawn or Robin know after reading the criteria listed.   

      

 IF a student needs a transcript sent, please sign the sheet on the Robin's desk in the guidance office. You will put your name and the college or institution it needs to be sent to.

The Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio Scholarship Application - deadline is March 1, 2018.  Please visit http://www.glohio.com/scholarship-foundation for a copy of the application or come into the guidance department to get a hard copy.

NEW 1-26-18- Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation - Applications accepted 1-1-18 thru 3-1-18.  Winners announced April 2018.  $1,000.00 annually renewed up to 4 years.  Limited to undergraduate studies. Please stop by the guidance dept to pick up an application.

NEW 1-26-18 - Ohio Gas Association Scholarship Foundation -  Applications accepted 1-15-18 thru 3-16-18 $1,000 renewed up to three years. Limited to undergraduate studies, technical or trade school programs.  Please stop by the guidance office to review the application.  Offered for those students interested in the natural gas industry or related energy field.  

NEW - 2-13-18 - Par Mar Scholarship is designed to assist students in our communites.  Provides multiple scholarships to high school seniors or graduates and college undergraduates enrolled in a full-time course of study at a college or university. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, community involvement, school activities, honors, work experience, statement of career goals and finanical need.  Will be accepted until April 30, 2018.  Winners announced in late May.  Par Mar Stores will pay scholarship awards prior to payment being due to the college or university.  Checks will be mailed to the recipient's home address and will be payable, jointly, to the recipient and the school.  Check must be endorsed by both the recipient and the school.

 

 

NEW - 2-13-18 - IBI GROUP Scholarships offers two $1,500.00 scholarships annually.  Primary objective is to foster college participation in students from southeastern Ohio.  While students entering all career fields are eligible, there will be emphasis on awarding the scholarships to those applicants interested in pursuing study in the field of civil engineering at an accredited university.  Please stop by the guidance department to pick up an application and review other criteria listed.

 

NEW- 2-13-18 - Foundation for Applachian Ohio scholarships: Hard copies are available in guidance office.

AK Steel Student Scholastic Award for Science, Technology, Math and Engineering- to provide a permanent source of scholarship support for students pursuing studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, with particular emphasis on metallurgy.  Mailed applications must be postmarked by March 15, 2018 and scanned and emailed applications must be received by March 15, 2018.

Ora E. Anderson Scholarship - honor the memory of Ora Eaton Anderson and his lifelong contributions toward the conservation of Applachian Ohio's Natural environment.  Scholarship provides support to students across the 32 counties of Applachian Ohio pursuing studies associated with the natural sciences. Deadline March 15, 2018.

Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship - established to honor the tremendous legacy of both men in encouraging continued academic endeavors after high school.  Scholarships are available to students pursuing post-secondary studies throughout the 32 counties of Applachian counties.  Deadline March 15, 2018.
